Who is minding Suntree vendors, it's not the management company who drives by once a week & it's not the board members who are entrusted by all the owners to do exactly that, so who is it? Nobody!
Had the board been supervising the vendors we would not be watering the lawns, streets, cars, and driveways twice a day (not seeding the lawns) once at sundown and again around midnight. Since we have hit monsoon season watering is reduced because of the increased rain and humidity. To give them the benefit of the doubt they could be thinking that watering twice a day would prevent water run off. Wrong again. It has increased water run off causing 2 inches of water to run off into the street. Had they been supervising then the change in watering schedule would only have lasted a week. There is no need for the board to vote on if we want to waste water or not. If the board members are not going to supervise then the owners have too. We have a duty to stop vendors from, in this case changing the watering schedule to stop wasting water and damage to the streets.
The board does not have to micro-manage vendors, but at some point you do have to look at the work they are doing. Otherwise, how do you evaluate their job performance? If you tell them what to do, they are not to blame if the grass looks like crap. You are to blame, provided they did what you tell them to do. If you allow them to make suggestions and recommendations and then follow them; then you can blame them.
