UPDATED Save Suntree aka Indian Bend Village HOA

My intention isn't to trash anyone; I just want to make new people aware of things to watch out for during election time.  The candidates on the Suntree 2011, ballot are a) a click of women wanting to spend money ("We have the money we may as well spend it." Talking about spending reserve funds on landscaping projects.), b) four live on the golf course or have mountain views, and c)two live near the pool and on the golf course.

Leaving only two board members to represent the remaining 126 owners interests.  This again gives the minority (46 owners) of the ownership being represented by the majority vote on the board.

If seven board members are elected to the board for Suntree HOA.  There should be roughly 25 owners represented by one board member.  This is the fair way to ensure owners are all represented equally with equal access to their representative.  This gives board members the opportunity to talk to owners and actually see why and how they are affected by decisions.  Talking is the cheapest form of communication to keep owners updated and document thier concerns.  If the board member wants they can distribute 25 flyer's that they make up themselves and place in mailboxes or on doors.  Either option is cheaper than maintaining a website or sending out newsletters via the management company.

If all or the majority of the board members live on the golf course; they all will have the same interests and agenda at heart.  They need to learn and understand the concerns of owners in different areas of the community.  It is after all the loction of the home in the community which dictates the issues and concerns that face them.  It's all about location location location and the right to be represented fairly and honestly.

It is the lack of representation which led to the dumb idea of painting the houses the same colors as the pool furniture.  Pool furniture which is scheduled for replacement in 2013 and is the closest color options available to match the pool tiles.  Would you paint your home based on outdoor patio furniture you cannot see from your home? Our architecture is Spanish and our landscaping is green and tropical.  YET WE ARE FORCED TO PAINT HEAVY EXPOSED RAW WOOD BEAMS WHITE AND THE BODY IN POOP BROWN.  The paint colors say desert, but there is nothing desert about this community!!  The same person responsible for the crappy paint colors is also responsible for spending of reserve funds to plant sod, flowers, and colorful tropical landscaping.  And are candidates for next years board!  Talk about being out of touch with what home buyers want.  They saw a huge net surplus in 2009, and whatever the surplus is for 2010, and see a spending spree.

I want a refund of the over paid dues from last year.  The Declaration states that the total amount of common expenses plus reserve contributions are to be assessed to the members.  We were obviously assessed more than the amount of common expenses in 2009.   I came to the total of common expenses plus reserve contributions totals $253,563.69.  Which would make our dues only $121.44, but we paid $140.00 equaling an over-payment of $18.56 per month.  This comes to a refund of over paid dues of $222.72 per owner plus any over paid dues from 2010!
