Sprinkler Low-Head-Drainage

Having problem with run-off and cannot figure out why? According to AZ Master Gardener Manual, "Pop-up spray irrigation systems typically have the poorest uniformities,

possibly reaching a maximum of 70 percent uniformity of application. Their high precipitation rates makes them a problem on many landscapes with slopes, mounds, compaction or heavy soils. Pop-ups vary from 2 inch heights for warm-season grasses and others mowed at 1 1/2 inch or lower, up to 18-inch for shrubs and planter areas." Only about 70 percent of your lawns is going to get adequate water or even less if the lawn is sloped.

As if using pop-up heads wasn't working against your efforts to grow a lush green lawn during the summer it could also be caused from low head drainage. See the link below for symptoms and solutions.

Don't forget to rule out disease and pests first. If these aren't the problem then it's time to roll up your sleeves and get digging in the dirt. Complaining about it will not fix it and continuing to do the same thing expecting different results is the definition of "Crazy".
